No open roles today. Worth reading anyway.
ZeroLanes is an early company. There is no jobs board on this page, because there are no jobs on it, and a stale list of roles that were never open is a worse first impression than an empty one. What is here is the work this will need, and how to put your name in front of it.
We are not hiring yet, and we are not pretending to be.
The platform is built. The first region is Greater Manchester, the first transport companies are being brought on, and the hiring follows real booking volume rather than a plan anybody could publish with a straight face. If that changes, this page changes with it. Until then, an introduction is welcome and a quick answer is not something we can promise.
The kinds of people this will need
Descriptions of work, not vacancies. None of these is an open role today, and none of them is a wish list either: each is something the business already needs done by somebody.
Dispatch and operations
People who have sat on a real dispatch desk and know what a Friday evening looks like when two cars go off the road at once. The platform automates the award; somebody still has to watch the jobs it cannot place and get a customer to their flight anyway.
Compliance and onboarding
Checking a transport company’s operator licence, insurance and company details, then every driver and vehicle document behind them, and being willing to say no. This is the part of the job where being liked matters least and being right matters most.
Engineering
One TypeScript codebase behind a booking site, two consoles and two mobile apps. The useful person here is the one who reads the code that already exists before adding to it, and who writes down why a decision was made rather than only what was done.
Customer support
Answering the person whose car has not arrived and whose flight is at six. Support here is not a deflection queue: a complaint about a journey is ours to resolve, because the journey was sold under our name.
Corporate sales
Company travel is a relationship business, not a sign-up form. Someone has to sit with a travel coordinator who already has a supplier they have used for years and give them a reason to move part of it.
What we can tell you, and what we cannot
What is true today
- The company is early. The platform is built and the first region is Greater Manchester; the operation it serves is still being stood up.
- The work is building the first version of something, not maintaining an established one. That suits some people and is miserable for others.
- Every part of the business runs on one platform, so the same person’s decisions tend to show up in several places at once.
- Decisions here get written down with their reasoning, which is the habit we would expect from anyone joining.
What has not been decided
- Salary bands. Nothing has been set, and a range invented for a web page is not one anybody should rely on.
- Whether a given role would be in an office, remote, or somewhere between. It will depend on the role and it has not been decided.
- Benefits, pension arrangements or equity. None of it is settled, so none of it is listed.
- How many people will be hired, or when. The honest answer is that it follows real booking volume rather than a plan we could publish.
If you want to be in the conversation
Write to us. Say which of the areas above is yours, and tell us what you have actually done rather than what you are interested in. A person reads it. Because nothing is open, treat it as putting a marker down rather than as an application, and expect the reply to take a while.
- Driven, dispatched or run a fleet in the UK? Say where, for how long, and what you would fix about the brokers you have worked with.
- Writing software? A link to something you built and a sentence about a decision you would now make differently is worth more than a CV.
- No attachments we have to open to understand you. Put the substance in the email.
Introduce yourself
One address, read by a person. If a dedicated careers address is set up later, this page will say so.
If what you actually want is to bring a transport company to the network rather than to join the team, that is a different conversation and it starts on the partners page.
